Guests board the boat and head out to explore the surrounding waters of Grand Turk. Whether you are an experienced snorkeler or a beginner, this excursion focuses on enjoying exceptional water clarity while observing the underwater environment just below the surface.
Snorkeling takes place at one designated reef site, selected by the captain based on real-time sea conditions, visibility, and safety considerations. Depending on the day’s conditions, snorkeling may occur within the Grand Turk reef system, such as the Wall area or at Round Cay Reef. Final site selection is made at the captain’s discretion to ensure the safest and clearest experience available that day.
After snorkeling, the experience transitions into a cultural and educational component that is a defining part of this excursion. Along the route toward Gibbs Cay, guests observe the captain free diving for live conch using traditional breath-hold technique, without tanks or mechanical assistance. This practice requires patience, timing, breath control, and extensive knowledge of the ocean and reflects a skill passed down through generations.
Upon arrival at Gibbs Cay, guests are introduced to the cultural significance of conch harvesting. The captain demonstrates how the conch is carefully extracted from its shell and explains its role in local cuisine and island tradition.
